Getting there:
The cheapest way for 5 people to get there is to drive. It also saves renting a car when you get there – but that’s a long drive from New Brunswick.
Check out http://www.travelocity.ca for discount airline tickets. Also explore whether you can use airmiles or credit card points, etc. toward your tickets.
It’s offer cheaper to fly from the closest US destination. (For example – from Toronto, we could drive to Buffalo then fly from there.)
Discount attraction tickets:
Everyone is offering discounted attraction tickets in Orlando but there’s a catch of course. To get the discounts you have to attend a time share seminar which they promise is 90 minutes but takes 3 hours or more. Since your time is limited, shop online for tickets instead.
Stay away from EBay since you can’t tell by looking at the tickets whether they have any “days” left on them or not. Disney has revamped their ticket options, Check them out. It’s a little cheaper to buy online than at the gate.
Also check out Universal Studios. I think they’re still offering deals where a kid gets in free with the purchase of each adult
ticket. Always read the exclusions and the fine print.
Weather:
We’ve had 2 trips in November . One was 8 days of sunshine. The other had sun mixed with rain. We could still wear shorts.
Other
We take a soft sided cooler with water and cold drinks to the parks. Compared to $3 US per bottle at the parks that saves a little money.
Before you go:
Shop for some of your Disney ensignia stuff at the local Dollar store before you go. My daughter always takes a Disney pen and autograph book.
She also has a Disney ball cap and some T-shirts we take with us.
Great souvenirs for the kids to collect at the parks are pressed coins. It keeps them occupied looking for machines that press pennies and quarters into souvenirs. They can buy albums to put them in for about $6.00.
Keep an eye on US exchange rates. They’re great right now.
Have a terrific trip.

November is a great time to go, the weather is cooler and the crowds are lower except for Thanksgiving. Since you have a place to stay I won’t go into that. I don’t know if you are planning on going to Disney or Universal but since you’re bringing kids, I recommend it. They are both great parks and have a lot to offer. With both parks it’s best to get your tickets either through their websites or a travel agent and also buy your tickets in advance. I listed Kissimmee’s site below (that’s where most stay when going to Disney or Universal), Universal’s site, and Disney’s. I would check out Kissimmee’s site for the non park stuff to do and you can have them send you a list of attractions and restaurants. I recommend checking out Medieval Times one night for dinner, it’s a dinner show based in Medieval times with knight and jousting and kings and all that (also the kids with love it because they eat with their hands, no utensils). There’s also Arabian Nights which is similar just Arabian based.
Now as far as Disney and Universal, typically people say that Disney is for younger kids and kids at heart and Universal is for older kids and teens, I don’t like assuming that because when I was a teenager I loved Disney (I’m in my 20s now). Since you’ve got a wide range of ages for your children, to be fair I’d check out both Disney and Universal.
Here are some general rules of thumb for both parks. 1) When you start using your tickets, if you don’t purchase the no expiration on your tickets they will expire after 14 days. 2) Buy your tickets in advance, it saves money and time. 3) Get to the park early, the later you wait you odds of running into the park being full will be greater (not a guarantee but is possible for the more popular parks like the Magic Kingdom). 4) Research, buy some travel books (I recommend “The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, Passporter, and Brahum’s) and also check out fan sites (I listed a great Disney fan site below and there’s Universal info there too), you might even be able to get the older kids to help with the research. And 5) Don’t over do it, it’s easy to want to do EVERYTHING while you’re at the parks but if you do that you’ll get tired and not enjoy your vacation, so take in some shows (time to sit and some are in the AC) and parades in addition to the rides.
I won’t get into the ticket pricing because there’s so many options but keep in mind that yes Universal is cheaper but they have 2 parks and CityWalk (an area of shopping, restaurants, and bars) but Disney is bigger (4 parks, 2 water parks, Downtown Disney (a great shopping and dinning area outside the parks), DisneyQuest (an indoor interactive amusement park), Pleasure Island (an area of restaurants and bars for those 18 and older), and Disney’s Wide World of Sports). I hope this helps, have fun!!!!

First, set your budget before going.
Second… check http://www.allears.com and http://www.mapleleaf.com
All Ears will point you at the best things and prices on Disney property. MapleLeaf has discount tickets for most of the Orlando attractions.
You may want to try booking your trip with a travel agent or an online vendor such as Orbitz or Cheap Hotels. There is also Cheap Flights and the commercial airlines. When you do complete booking… you get better deals.
If there are particular restaraunts you want to go to, make reservations in advance of the trip.
Orlando has so much to do…. you really need to do your homework on this one.
The question on driving vs. flying…. how much do you want to spend, how much time do you want to spend in the car, do you want the freedom of having your own vehicle. Remember, you have to pay for parking at the parks unless you are staying at property resorts. This holds true for Disney and Universal/Seaworld.
